Genshin Impact Reimagines the Game Experience: Phasing Out PS4 and Elevating Hardware Standards
Aug-07-2025

Genshin Impact, a widely recognized free-to-play phenomenon beyond Asia, is set to undergo significant changes in its platform availability and system requirements. The game’s advancements have brought about a decision to end support for an older console version, impacting long-time PlayStation 4 users.
Starting from 10 September, The game will cease to be accessible for new downloads through the PlayStation Store on the PlayStation 4. At the same time, a fresh iteration, known as Song of the Welkin Moon, will be launched for all other supported platforms. Additionally, players using the PS4 will experience a restriction on in-game purchases beginning 25 February 2026, culminating in a complete shutdown on 8 April 2026.
The move reflects the reality that ongoing development no longer aligns with the older generation hardware’s capabilities. This strategic shift allows the game to push the boundaries of its visual and gameplay improvements on newer platforms.
In related updates, the system requirements for mobile and PC versions have been elevated to ensure an optimal gaming experience. The new guidelines are summarized below:
- Android: Recommended configuration
- iOS: Recommended configuration
- PC: Available with both a minimum configuration and a recommended configuration
Devices that do not meet the minimum specified configurations may still access the game, although users could encounter issues such as reduced frame rates, occasional jitters, or temporary disconnections during play.
For those currently enjoying Genshin Impact on the PS4, there is no need for concern about losing progress. All game data will be securely stored on the cloud, enabling a smooth transition to playing on PC or the next-generation console.
