Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Patch Unintentionally Adds Debug Menu, Allows for Venom in Free Roam

In a recent update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Insomniac Games introduced several eagerly awaited features, including a New Game Plus option, Mission Replay, additional suits, and more. However, the update inadvertently provided players access to the game's debug menu. Insomniac Games has issued a warning regarding the possibility of save corruptions and impacts on trophy progress for those who delve into the debug menu, with a fix already in preparation.

Adventurous players are exploring the debug menu's capabilities, uncovering the ability to roam freely as Venom, as well as youthful versions of Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson. The menu also contains references to Blue Beetle, aligning with information from leaked documents about three forthcoming free DLCs due to a ransomware attack on the studio.

The first DLC, dubbed Beetle Infestation, is anticipated to be released between January and March in the fiscal year 23/24. With the New Game Plus patch arriving later than expected, it's possible that the DLC might face a slight delay as well.

Among the debug menu's various functions, players can activate invincibility and award themselves the latest Trophy for completing a New Game Plus run, among other things. The full extent of the menu's capabilities and further discoveries remains to be seen.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, exclusive to the PS5, has achieved impressive sales, hitting the ten million mark worldwide as of December 31st, 2023.
